Welcome.

Thank you for your comments on the ANC Runway 7R Extension project.

Project Update: Trail Mitigation Options
A Sisson Loop trail reroute alternative has been proposed to avoid conflicts that could arise as a result of the proposed extension of the east-west runway and the relocation of the Approach Lighting System (ALS) at Anchorage's international airport. On March 12, 2009, the Parks and Recreation Commission unanimously endorsed a proposed trail reroute alternative that would separate the Sisson Loop trail from the access road in order to avoid logistical and safety concerns. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), in cooperation with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC), is proposing a runway extension project at ANC. The proposed action includes extending Runway 7R to the west for landings, realigning Taxiway G to create an acute angled exit taxiway, and extending Taxiway R to intersect with Runway 7R. The proposed action will increase operational efficiency at the airport by reducing aircraft taxi delays and minimizing ground congestion.
